You will need a few ingredients for white sauce cheese pasta. The ingredients are listed below:
- Pasta: Of course, you need pasta for the dish. I use 1 cup of pasta.
- Butter: Use 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter. You can mix oil and butter if you like.
- Milk: Use 1 1/2 cups of boiled full-fat milk.
- Salt and black pepper: I will use salt to taste and 1/2 teaspoon of crushed black pepper.
- Chilli flakes: 1/4 teaspoon of red chilli flakes or to taste. You can skip chilli flakes if cooking for kids.
- All-purpose flour: 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour.
- Cheese: I use 2 tablespoons of mozzarella cheese for an extra creamy texture, but you can skip the cheese. Today, I am making cheese pasta.
- Vegetables: I use some vegetables for white sauce cheese pasta—red, yellow, and green bell peppers, and broccoli.
- Garlic: 1 tablespoon of chopped garlic for a fantastic aroma.
How To Make White Sauce Cheese Pasta
Pasta
- At first, take a medium pot and add water and 1 teaspoon of oil to boil the pasta. I use 3 cups of water for 1 cup of pasta. Add some salt and wait for the water to boil. When the water is boiling, add the pasta and wait 10 to 12 minutes. When the time is up, check if the pasta is tender. Be sure not to overcook the pasta.
- If you want, check the instructions on the pasta package for the correct cooking time.
- Once the pasta is boiled, remove it from the pot and set it aside.
- Next, take a pan, add oil, and saute the mixed vegetables. Cook on medium-high heat, add some salt, and fry them. Once the vegetables are well-fried, remove them to a plate and set them aside.
- Heat the pan and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Wait for the butter to melt, then add chopped garlic and fry for 20 seconds on medium heat. Once the garlic is fried, add all-purpose flour and fry on medium-low heat for a few minutes until the flour loses its raw smell. Don’t over-fry it. When the flour is dry, that’s fine, then add milk and mix well to avoid lumps.
- Mix the flour and milk well and cook until smooth. Once it has a creamy texture, add some water, and the sauce will become creamy. The white sauce is now ready. It should be thick enough.
- Finally, add the fried vegetables and boiled pasta and mix well. Once the vegetables and pasta are coated with the sauce, the pasta is ready.
- Add red chilli flakes, black pepper, and salt, then mix well. When the white sauce pasta is cooked, add cheese before serving.
- Finally, the white sauce cheese pasta is ready. Serve it warm with garlic bread.
