How to Make The Best and Easiest Apple Pie

Apple Pie

The best and easiest apple pie recipe is my favourite. Making an apple pie is very easy. The apple pie is crispy and golden brown on the outside and soft and moist on the inside, making it a very delicious dish. Perfectly made apple pie tastes amazing.

What Is Apple Pie?

Apple pie is mainly a dessert item. My kids love apple pie, and it is a healthy food. It combines apples and butter with sugar, which is then mixed with pie dough, baked in the oven, and ready to enjoy. My family members, both kids and adults, love it. Apple pie is very simple to make, and though it’s easy, it looks so nice. If you love apple pie, you should definitely try making one.

Why Love This Apple Pie?

Apple pie is my favourite because it’s simple, classic, and requires only a few ingredients. After baking, the pie becomes golden brown and crispy on the outside, with a buttery, creamy texture and juicy filling on the inside. The caramelised sweetness of the filling is tender, and a scoop of ice cream on top makes it taste so lovely. That’s why it’s my favourite dessert.

Ingredients for Apple Pie

A few ingredients are needed to make an apple pie. My apple pie recipe is very simple, but it’s special because it has a delicious, crispy, buttery, creamy texture with a sweet and spiced apple filling. I use specific ingredients, but you can substitute others if you’d like. However, if you want the same taste, follow my exact ingredient list and steps.

  1. Apples: Available in the market, but I use a variety of apples for my pie. I usually use Granny Smith apples, but you can use any kind. I use 5 Granny Smith apples.

  2. Pie Crust: You can use a store-bought pie crust or make one at home. I use a store-bought double crust pie for convenience.

  3. Butter and Flour, Sugar: Use 250 grams of butter, 2 tablespoons of flour, and sugar for the filling. Cook the butter with all-purpose flour, and mix with ½ cup of white sugar and ½ cup of brown sugar. This gives the filling a lovely flavour.

  4. Cinnamon: Use 1 tablespoon of cinnamon for the apple pie spice. I always add cinnamon for a spiced flavour.
  5. Lemon: I add some lemon juice.

  6. Egg: Beat 1 egg for brushing the pie crust. This gives it a beautiful finish and enhances the taste.

  2. Jazz: Jazz apples are crispy and sweet.

  3. Pink Lady: These apples have a good balance of tart and sweetness.

  4. Honey crisp: Honey crisp apples are crispy, sweet, tart, and easy to find in most supermarkets, making them great for baking.

Instructions for Making Apple Pie

  1. Crust: First, I prepare the pie crust. I use store-bought crust, but you can make a homemade one if you prefer. A great apple pie starts with a great pie crust. Mix flour and butter to make the dough for the pie. I follow the instructions on the store-bought crust package, taking the crust out of the fridge and setting it aside.

  2. Apples: Clean the apples and slice them thinly for quick baking. In a medium bowl, add the sliced apples, mix them with cinnamon and lemon juice, and set them aside.

  3. Preheat: Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  4. Butter and Filling: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the flour and mix well. Then add ⅓ cup of water, whisk, and mix in the white and brown sugars. Cook on medium-low heat until the mixture thickens, then remove it from the heat.

  5. Assembling: Roll out the bottom pie crust and place it in an ovenproof pie plate. Add the sliced apples to the centre and pour the butter mixture over them.

  6. Top Crust: Roll out the second pie crust and cut it into 9 even strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter. Lay the strips over the pie in a lattice pattern, then brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden, crispy finish.

  7. Baking: Bake the pie at 350°F in the centre of the oven for 40 minutes. The pie is ready when the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Let the pie rest at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.

Serving: Slice the pie and top with a scoop of ice cream for an amazing taste.

Tips and Tricks for Apple Pie

  • You can use any type of apple, but I prefer Granny Smith and Honey crisp.
  • Slice the apples small for a short baking time and a soft, juicy texture.
  • Use foil strips around the edge of the pie to prevent burning during baking.
  • For extra flavour, add nutmeg, lemon zest, and other spices.
  • Wait 30 minutes after baking before serving for the best texture.

How to Store Apple Pie

To store apple pie, let it cool first. Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To freeze, place the pie in a box or zip lock bag and store it for up to 2 months. To reheat, let it come to room temperature, then bake in the oven at 350°F for 30 minutes.
