This is just my opinion. I like to use both types. Yukon Golds supply great flavour, and Russets help with natural starch and fluffiness.

Here are some ingredients for perfectly making mashed potatoes. You can use other ingredients if you want, but the main ingredients should be used to make perfect mashed potatoes. Do not add too many other ingredients. The main ingredients are listed below:

  1. POTATOES: 2 kg of Russet potatoes to make mashed potatoes. Make sure the potatoes are the same size because that makes the mashed potatoes easier to prepare.

  2. GARLIC: 2 cloves of garlic for flavour. The taste is amazing.

  3. BUTTER: 1/2 cup of unsalted butter for mashed potatoes. You can use salted butter, no problem.

  4. MILK: Use milk for mashed potatoes. It makes them smooth. You can use whole milk for extra creaminess.

  5. SALT AND BLACK PEPPER: Lastly, use salt and black pepper to taste.

HOW TO MAKE PERFECTLY MASHED POTATOES

Perfectly homemade mashed potatoes are very simple and easy to make. They require only a few ingredients and take a short time to prepare, and they are so delicious. So, let’s go and make them!

  1. First, get a chopping board and a sharp knife. Peel the potatoes, cut them into small pieces, and clean them in cool water. Be sure to clean the potatoes in salted cool water. Also, prepare 2 cloves of garlic.
  2. Next, take a large pot and add cool water and salt to taste, then add the potatoes and bring them to a boil over high heat. When the water starts boiling, reduce the heat to medium. Wait for the potatoes to boil for 10 to 15 minutes, then check if they are fork-tender. Do not overcook the potatoes.
  3. When the potatoes are cooked, remove them from the pot.
  4. Then heat a pan and add milk and butter. Cook until it boils, then turn off the heat.
  5. Finally, mash the potatoes using a masher or mixer. I use a potato masher and mash until the potatoes are smooth. Add the boiled milk and butter mixture and mash well. Then, add some salt and black pepper and mix.

HOW TO STORE MASHED POTATOES?

If the mashed potatoes are ready and you want to store them, place them in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

You have two options for reheating the mashed potatoes:

  1. Option 1: In the microwave, heat for only 3 minutes.
  2. Option 2: In the oven. Place the mashed potatoes in an oven-safe dish and warm at 350°F for 20 minutes, depending on the size of the mashed potatoes.

If the mashed potatoes are dry after reheating, add butter and milk, and mix well.
